Bad Credit Lenders – Where Can I Get the Lowest Mortgage Rate?

Posted on | August 19, 2009 | 1 Comment

Bad credit lenders seem to be all over the place this day.  We cannot turn on the television or look at the Internet without seeing advertisements for these companies.  Most of the ads say that their particular company can offer the lowest mortgage rate.  Well, obviously everyone cannot offer the lowest mortgage rate but there are a few lenders out there they can help you get a reasonable rate even if you are considered a bad credit borrower.

Many of the bad credit lenders out there were not willing to offer much assistance during the troubling fall from October 2008 through March of 2009.  This all changed when President Obama urged all banks and financial institutions to start lending again so this economy could get back on its feet.  Since then we have seen steady mortgage lending and even bad credit borrowers have been able to borrow money.

The problem that many bad credit borrowers are having is the fact that they are going to pay so much money in interest.  If your mortgage rate is over 12% you are going to end up pay a ton more in interest than someone who has a mortgage rate under 6%.  This is the age old adage that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.  There are acutally some people out there who never have to pay interest because they can use cash to buy everything that they need.

Most of us cannot pay with cash and at some time in our life we will probably need a bad credit lender.  The best strategy for using a bad credit lender is to shop around.  If you go to the first company you find and let them quote you at a rate you will never know what else is out there.  It may seem like the best interest rate you can get, but there might be other companies that can offer a much lower mortgage rate.

With the struggling economy, it makes it a little bit easier for bad credit borrowers.  Everyone has seen their credit score take a hit so a once horrible credit score is now considered decent.  With this being the case, you are likely to get an interest rate that is a little more acceptable.  You horrible credit score in 2005 actually looks pretty good in 2009.
