Bad Credit Auto Loan – Borrowers Buying New Cars this Christmas

Posted on | December 17, 2009 | 1 Comment

Many borrowers will be looking to buy new cars this Christmas season and will need an auto loan.  Unfortunately many of these borrowers are considered bad credit borrowers as they have a credit score below 650.  If you plan to buy a new car or truck this holiday season and you have bad credit it would be a good idea to do some extensive research to see just what bad credit auto loan you should get.

There are many bad credit lenders throughout the United States and on the Internet that will be more then willing to help you get money.  There are very few people who can purchase a car or truck with cash in the current economic environment so lenders are there to serve a need.  With the advancements in technology it would be a great idea for you to do a significant amount of research on these types of loans before jumping in.

You will not know an exact interest rate on your bad credit auto loan until you go through the application process.  This process could be quite extensive so you do not want to do this too many times.  It would be a good idea to at least apply to a few places just so you can get a ballpark figure when it comes to the interest rate that you can expect.  This will also give you some leverage when it comes to the negotiation process.

Do not feel that you should be loyal to one specific lender just because they have allowed you to borrow money in the past.  Too many Americans feel that they have to go with a specific lender because they have always been their bank or they gave them money the last time they bought a car.  If you fall into this trap then there is a good chance that you will not be getting the lowest interest rate you can get.

Before making the final decision as to what lender is the best for your bad credit auto loan it might be a good idea to get a second opinion.  By sitting down with someone who is extremely smart with finances you might get a different perspective that could help you make the best decision for your unique situation.  Do not get blinded when it comes to the bad credit loan process.

If you get turned down by your own bank or credit union there are alternatives to bad credit auto loans. Dealerships with special finance departments or fill out an application on-line.
