Research in Motion (RIMM) Shows America the Abilities of Blackberry 6 – Stock Price Down 21% Year to Date
Posted on | July 21, 2010 | No Comments
Research in Motion continues to remain the #1 provider of smartphones in America but with the increased competition of Apple iOS and Google Android the folks at RIMM know they must step up their game to stay atop this market. Yesterday, Research in Motion showed America the mulitmedia capabilities of Blackberry 6.
The Blackberry blog offered many screens shots of the advancements of Blackberry 6 including streaming, sharing and searching for videos, organizing photos and a new podcast app among many other capabilities. Investors hope the Blackberry 6 will prove to be a money market for RIMM as the stock price is down over 20% year to date.
While RIMM is down 21% this year Apple is up 21% which has many investors concerned. It is very important to note that Apple gains revenue off many other devices including the iPad, iPod and MacBook line. Even though this is the case, investors of RIMM are looking for a cutting edge product that will help push the stock price higher.
At this point no one knows for sure when Blackberry 6 will be released but it is likely to be sometime in the third quarter of 2010 which is between July and September. With the Droid X and Apple iPhone 4 already on the market now is the time for Blackberry to make a mark with it’s Blackberry 6.
