Kyle Parker Returns as Clemson Tigers Quarterback During Sophomore Year – Turns Down 1st Round MLB Money
Posted on | July 21, 2010 | No Comments
Today Kyle Parker made the announcement that he will return as the Clemson Tigers starting quarterback during his sophomore season rather than taking his baseball game to the major leagues. Just last month Kyle Parker was selected as the 26th draft pick in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies. With first-round money on the table it was likely a very difficult decision for Kyle Parker to return to the Clemson Tigers football team.
Negotiations are still being made with the Colorado Rockies to determine his contract but as of now Kyle Parker will be the 2010 starting quarterback of the Clemson Tigers football team. With Clemson being the runner-up of the Atlantic Coast Conference last season there is a strong chance that Kyle Parker could provide the experience and big plays to give Clemson their first ACC championship in quite some time.
The amount of money being left on the table this year from Kyle Parker is a very debatable issue. Some feel that young athletes should take the money given the chance seeing as there is no guarantee that their bodies will survive until the next season. With Kyle Parker playing quarterback in the ACC and he is risking injury on almost every single play. With that being said, he will also be getting an education from Clemson University which will go a long way into building his future.
