BP CEO Denies Rumors of Resignation – Future Replacement for Tony Hayward Must Clean Up BP Image Quickly

Posted on | July 21, 2010 | No Comments

There have been many rumors swirling that the BP CEO, Tony Hayward, would submit his resignation very soon. BP and Tony Hayward have denied these rumors but anything is possible when billions of dollars are lost.  While Tony Hayward might survive 2010 and possibly 2011 his future replacement is going to have to do a great job of cleaning up the Oil Spill memories and the image of BP.

The public perception of BP is about as bad as it can get at the moment.  Many influential figures in America are boycotting the use of BP products and there have been numerous groups created to get the word out that BP should not be an option for gasoline in America.

The stock price of BP has been for a wild ride over the last few months.  Since the Oil Spill began the stock price of BP has dropped from $60 to $27 but has since bounced back and is trading around $36.  Investors do not like volatility and this stock has been the definition of volatility lately.

Over the next few weeks it will be interesting to see what happens with BP CEO Tony Hayward as this company needs a complete overhaul when it comes to its image.  If they hope to gain investors something must be done to prove that BP will be an ethical company that does the right thing to make a profit.
