Jersey Shore Cast Members Demand $30,000 an Episode from MTV – Deal is Getting Closer
Posted on | July 20, 2010 | No Comments
Jersey Shore burst onto the scene in December of 2009 as MTV fully understands that high drama means high dollars. Last night the Bachelorette Ali continued to prove that ratings are attainable when drama is involved. For almost two weeks the “Snookie Punch” was the talk of Twitter and the Internet which threw Jersey Shore into the spotlight.
Now that the cast has realized that MTV made a killing off the drama filled show they are asking for a much bigger payday. The Jersey Shore cast members are demanding $30,000 an episode from MTV. Last season there were nine episodes so the payday would have been $2.7 million for the first season with the current salary demands.
The second season was set to begin on July 29, 2010 but negotiations are still ongoing when it comes to the salary per show. As Huffington Post points out, Jersey Shore claims to be the show with the “hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos.” Add to that high drama and MTV has found quite the hit with Jersey Shore. Full disclosure: As with Bachelorette Ali, I have not seen a single episode of Jersey Shore but MTV has done an amazing job of monetizing drama with shows such as The Real World and The Hills.
