Mortgage Interest Rates December 27 – Rates Drop Today
Posted on | December 27, 2009 | No Comments
Mortgage interest rates for December 27th, 2009 are down early today but with it being a Sunday any movement should be taken lightly. The 30 year fixed rate mortgage is down to 4.94% while the 15 year fixed rate mortgage is down to 4.39%. The 5/1 ARM is also down to 3.73%. With all financial markets closed you can expect very little volatility from mortgage rates today.
The 10 year treasury rate yield has a strong chance of pulling back this week as it has made a straight shot up for the entire month of December. SInce December 1st, the 10 year yield has moved from 3.2% all the way up to 3.8%. This strong move higher has cause mortgage rates to go from 4.5% to almost 5%. Some mortgage lenders are reporting rates above 5% already.
The next two weeks are going to be very interesting when it comes to mortgage rates and the housing market. The amount of searches for mortgage related terms greatly picks up starting tomorrow and many people are looking at mortgage interest rates in preparation of refinancing the home in 2010. It should be a very fun couple of weeks.
