Mortgage Interest Rates November 23 – 15 Year Fixed Mortgage Rate Higher Today

Posted on | November 23, 2009 | No Comments

Mortgage interest rates for November 23rd, 2009 are higher early.  Today we are seeing the 15 year fixed mortgage rate up to 4.27% while the 30 year fixed mortgage rate is up to 4.71%.  The 5/1 ARM is also up to 3.69%.  This bounce comes very early in the week, prior to 8:00 am eastern, so anything can happen prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Last week we saw the 10 year treasury rate yield drop through its 50 day moving average with great strength.  After the drop we did not see a retracement back to the 50 dma.  With this being the case there is a very good possibility that the 200 day moving average will have to hold as support if this up trend is going to continue into December.

With the 10 year yield and the 30 year fixed mortgage rate having a very strong correlation the move down in the 10 year yield could be an indication that all time low mortgage rates are very close.  The all time low for the 30 year fixed mortgage rate is 4.61% and we got very close to this level, on a daily basis, a few times last week.
