VA Home Loan Mortgage Rates November 12 – Mixed Rates Today

Posted on | November 12, 2009 | No Comments

VA home loan mortgage rates for November 12th, 2009 are mixed today.  The conventional 30 year fixed mortgage rates is down to 4.71% while the 15 year fixed mortgage rate is up to 4.26%.  The conventional 5/1 ARM is also up to 3.64%.  VA home loan mortgage interest rates are generally around .5% to 1% lower than conventional mortgage rates.

Today we have seen mortgage interest rates work their way lower as the 10 year treasury rate yield has moved lower as well.  Even though we have seen the 10 year yield carve out an uptrend off the October lows mortgage rates have yet to react.  This is quite unusual as there is a strong correlation between the 10 year yield and mortgage interest rates.

This scenario took place back in May.  The 10 year yield moved higher yet mortgage rates moved sideways to down.  At the end of May we saw mortgage interest rates move as much as .75% in one week.  No one knows if this will happen again but if there continues to be a move up in yields it is likely we will see a move up in mortgage rates.
