Bad Credit Unsecured Personal Bank Loans – Do They Still Exist?

Posted on | November 9, 2009 | No Comments

Bad credit unsecured personal bank loans may be a thing of the past. Bank of America recently announced that they would no longer offer personal loans. This announcement took effect at the end of October. If Bank of America has stopped doing personal loans then it is highly likely that there are many other banks that will stop in the very near future.

There are still banks out there that offer personal loans but this is a very risky endeavor for these companies. It is especially risky if they qualify their credit borrowers as these borrowers have a highlight we had of not paying their loans back. This is one of the reasons that we saw such a financial disaster during the subprime mortgage crisis.

Many banks were allowing very bad credit borrowers to borrow money in which they never had any intentions of paying back. The banks knew that these borrowers were at high risk but they didn’t care because they wanted to collect the fees early on. It took a little downturn in the economy in these bad credit borrowers have absolutely no chance to make payments on their bad credit loans.

When this happened we saw the ultimate fallout in our financial system and all the banks came very close to collapsing. This is the reason the government had to jump in and offer money for these institutions. Now that these companies have gone through this they are very lenient on offering money to bad credit borrowers because of the situation they just went through.

It is likely that you will be able to find a bank that will offer you a personal loan but it is of the utmost importance that you have a good credit score that is increasing rather than decreasing. If your credit score has decreased over the past few months and it is getting to the point where it is a bad credit score you can almost count the you will not be able to get a personal loan from a bank.
