H.R. 3548 Passes in the House; President Obama’s Signature Awaits

Posted on | November 5, 2009 | 8 Comments

H.R. 3548 has been a much talked about issue on Subprime Blogger.  The first time home buyer tax credit extension as well as the unemployment benefits extension are all wrapped up in this one bill.  The Senate and House have passed this bill and it is now on to President Obama’s desk.  There is very little doubt that President Obama will sign it as soon as possible.

Thank you to all the readers who took part in the coversation of this issue over the last few weeks.  We will continue the conversation but it will obviously be much less of a hot topic.  There is no need to worry, there will be MANY more hot issues that we will cover here at Subprime Blogger and we hope you return and voice your opinion.  For those of you who did not voice your opinion we appreciate your visits as well!

Does anyone know what determines a “move-up” buyer? What if they just sold their home in Oct. 2009?? Thanks!

I wanted to THANK the House of Reps, for passing the unemployment bill so fast which will help all Americans who have exhausted their benefits. Unlike the sorry lowlife’s in the senate, who blocked it for over a month, this shows you care for the people who put you in office. I can guarantee you politicians when its time to vote again, I wont forget the ones who voted against it. You idiots caused alot of good people to go weeks without any money coming in, but you didnt care, it wasnt you looking for your next meal or ways to provide for your families. I hope all Americans will join me in voting out the deadbeats in the House,(like virginia foxx of NC) as well as the Senate. They havent out our interest at heart, only whats good for them. Once again, to the ones who voted for HR3548…..THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!

My family needs this badly, even though it is a horrible idea. The US does not have the money for this. Even though I hate liberals…thanks for the free money!!

Any one knows the language of the bill? Will people who received their last payment in August or September receive this extension?

    Any one knows?

    Mark,

I don’t think of it as “free money”. Over the years your employer and you (depending on your state) pay into the unemployment fund.

Think of all the money that has gone into your fund when you have been working over years that you never put a claim in for.

There are people who have worked 20, 30 years and never collected benefits.

Now that they are unemployed, that is not “free money” for them…

Unemployment is not welfare, BIG difference.

    toni and Raymond,

I have been searching everywhere to find that info as well. Can’t seem to find the specifics. But if you go to the CA Unemp. web site, it says:

If the legislation approved by Congress is signed by the President and enacted this week, then Sunday, November 8, 2009, becomes the first eligible week for the new benefits. Any time spent unemployed and without benefits before then is not covered by the new federal legislation.
