Latest News on H.R.3548 - Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009

2009 UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSION

Here's whats really happening.... 11/13/09

I'm afraid my friends ( Fellow Americans) that the government is going to lean once again on the side of corporations, by not providing assistance to millions of Americans before Thanksgiving... Yes the Senate both Democrats & Rebuplicans stalled passing the 2009 UE (Unemployment Extension) so they could have millions exhuast benefits for months so they could then come out and say that unemployment cliams are down to insinuate that thier administration (Government) is headed in the right direction but its all a lie. Unemployment claims are down only because Millions are out of benefits now more than ever before in history. Now that they have those digits....the next step will be to have a big christmas, economically speaking. Although the bill has passed and is LAW, they will now stall the claim process in hopes of engineering a big christmas, economically speaking!

This is how they will do it:

In states like Florida with high unemployment - people will begin recieving letters in the mail starting Dec. 1st to notify them if they are eligible for the 2009 UE. On or before Tuesday, Dec.15th people may be allowed to claim for all the retro weeks available. And finally on Friday Dec. 18th people may recieve there funds.

Keep in mind this is an intelligent forcast using quality resources of how things may go down but it may happen much sooner or alot differently.

All i know... Is that people need to speak out .... They don't care if you have thanksgiving dinner or not ... All they wants is to give you a lump some right before christmas so christmas sales are high so they can say that the economy is making progress, people are getting jobs ...
When in reality its really getting worst and worst a worst everyday....

AN ADMINISTRATION THAT ENGINEERS MUCH MORE THAN JUST AN UNEMPLOYMENT MEDIA BLACKOUT AND THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THANKSGIVING DINNERS IS NOT GOOD ADMINISTRATION BY ANY STRETCH!!!!!!!!!!

It's easy for idiots to say that we are trying to get a hand out! Well i's not a hand out, a welfare check or anything to that nature! Is it a handout or welfare check when money is sent overseas to build another country? We need help and the situation is getting worse. TN is a clueless state!!!! How are we to support our country and we don't get the same treatment? I've lost my home and today my utilities were on the cutoff list. I had to stand in the assistance line to get my bill paid. Let's not mention how we are degraded by those whom are just one paycheck away from being on the same side of the desk as me!!!!!! I have 30 days to find a box (I guess) with wiring to move in with my kids. Thanks Dept of Labor for dragging your feet. You are the hold up now! 3 cheers for the good old USA! Whatever!!!

I called my local Employment Security Commission yesterday and the employees are hoping this bill is passed before the thanksgiving holiday. My benefits ended in July and without this extention, I don't know how much longer I can continue to hold off on the mortgage and car payment. Chase Home Finance has explained to me, that there is nothing they can do, so what now. I can't move because I dont have an income - - This tax income rebate for cars and homes are worthless. What about my no income rebate??????

And while I'm here, everyone we know laughs at us when we tell them our household budget is based on two full time minimum wage jobs. They laughed less when we told them we had managed to save up six months total bills and are approaching a full year.

I try not to laugh when I see people with giant SUV's and lavish houses losing it all because they lived well beyond their means.

But at the same time, it kills me to watch good people, saving people, frugal people, pushed to their limits the current state of the economy. I know my situation is just as much grace as it is planning, so I'm thankful, but at the same time, if you guys are losing your houses this quickly, maybe you had too much house to begin with.

Good news, though, the housing market is down so far in most areas, you could just move there and save money, :)

Ok, maybe thats not good news.. .my neighborhood could easily go that way, :(

Both parties need a reality check. I'm an Obama supporting conservative, but both parties are so out of touch its terrifying. The new house credit as a case in point, lets get people into houses by offering them an incentive to take the plunge, interesting, as I recall, a similar gov't idea go us into this mess.

And extending benefits, what forever? Anyone that says they have been looking for work for years to no avail, might want to lower the bar. Around here, guys go form making 30-40 dollars an hour working a plant job and won't even look at a job that pays less than 20, as if by some miracle, UI benefits are better than the lower paying job.

This country, its leaders and citizens, need to grow up.

Then again, I'd be more likely to agree with either of the tax credit if it had some provision for people who have bought their houses using common sense and buying only what they can afford. For the record, I have taken use of the UI benefits, so I'm thankful for them in theory, but extending them forever is expensive and will train the state's reserve accounts fully before federal money can be used. Don't worry, Uncle Sam will be happy to step in and take over yet another state program.

My unemployment benefits were exhausted last week. I can not hold on until mid December for another check. My car will be repo'd and there will be no food. My 25 year old son who lives with me (he has Down Syndrome) receives a monthly check from disability for 674.00. This will be our only income. Who can live off that? Rent, gas, food, electricity, etc. With no car,how will I continue to seek a job? I have applied everywhere and ask everyone i see about any openings. I worked for 22 years at the same place as a medical office manager. I see no light at the end of my tunnel. Good luck to all the unemployed out there, I am praying for us all.
