Like the Tiffany says, this really isn&#039;t anything you can&#039;t do yourself. Unfortunately, many consumers are drowning in debt and simple programs can&#039;t help them. In this case, I always recommend speaking with a debt expert about your options... all of your options, not just the one the debt expert is &quot;pitching&quot;.  

That said, Debt Consolidation is an excellent choice for consumers who still have the credit rating to qualify for it and don&#039;t just see it as an opportunity to &quot;free up&quot; the lines of credit that they already have open.  (Note: In most cases the consolidator will insist that you close the accounts you are paying off anyway).  If you chose consolidation, make sure you get a lowered interest rate as well.
