In my mortgage rate predictions column last week I wrote that is was likely that we are going to see mortgage rates stabilize in late June; this is exactly what looks to be happening as the volatility of the 10 year treasury rate has gone down dramatically. I would be very surprised if we see a move of any significance this week in mortgage rates. Last week rates came in at 5.38% versus my 5.54% predicted. This week my prediction is:
30 Year Fixed Rate Mortgage – 5.43%
Like I said, I seriously doubt we will see a drastic move in either direction so this week is not going to be that important as far as making predictions. The overall housing market and mortgage industry needs this stabilization period as fluctuating mortgage rates are not good for anyone.
